Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (WHO), domuz gribini 1 ila 6 arasında derecelendirdiği salgın evreleri sıralamasında alarm düzeyini 3. evreden 4. evreye çıkardı. İsviçre’nin Cenevre kentinde saatlerce süren acil toplantının ardından WHO Başkan Yardımcısı Keiji Fukuda, düzenlediği basın toplantısında, ilk olarak alarm düzeyini 3′ten 4′e yükseltme kararının alındığını söyledi. Fukuda, virüsün kimi ülkelere de yayılmış olması nedeniyle domuz gribinin kontrol altına alınamayabileceğini bildirdi.WHO ayrıca, gribin yayılmasını durdurmak için sınırların kapatılması tavsiyesinde bulunmadığını, henüz yolculuk kısıtlamalarının gerekli olmadığını açıkladı.
